As election year gets underway, some legislators seek solutions to city council benefits

As this election year moves into its third month, some are moving to encourage legislators to take a look at how cities could better regulate which benefits — medical, travel or otherwise — city council members receive.

Dave Renison of the San Joaquin County Taxpayer’s Association said the only way to prevent city council members from receiving such a wide range of benefits is to have laws that prevent it.
