Elkhorn School places second at NorCal State Science Olympiad

Students at Elkhorn School came home from the NorCal State Science Olympiad last weekend with smiles on their faces. The middle school Gold Team earned a second place win, a team trophy and many individual awards. Head coaches Stan Oshita and Joan Lin-Cereghino joined the team at the competition.

The top 25 teams from all over Northern California competed in 23 different events in Visalia.

The gold, silver and bronze medal winners are listed below:

  • Sophie Chen and Grace Lin-Cereghino earned a silver medal in Forestry.
  • Katie Boswell, Aaron Hood and Annabelle Rankin earned a silver medal in Mission Possible.
  • Gianna Chien and Jessica Kaye earned a gold medal in Food Science.
  • Annabelle Rankin and Alyssa Witbeck earned a bronze medal in Disease Detectives.
  • Berkley Anderson, Sophie Chen and Minhsang Dinh earned a silver medal in Experimental Design.
  • Nicholas Wikert and Katie Boswell earned a gold medal in Storm the Castle.
  • Brooke Shimasaki and Jasmin Tran earned a silver medal in Optics.
  • Sarah Ahmed and Annabelle Rankin earned a bronze medal in Anatomy.
  • Gianna Chien and Jessica Kaye earned a gold medal in Write It/Do It.
