An estimated 10 customers in south Lodi spent three hours without electricity after a bolt of lightning destroyed a power pole on Colombard Circle, northwest of South Hutchins Street and West Century Boulevard, according to Lodi Electric Utility Director Liz Kirkley.
Lodi firefighters were called to the area at 1:11 a.m. Sunday after hearing a report of lightning striking a tree, Fire Capt. Michael Gold said. Firefighters spent 36 minutes at the scene, but Lodi Electric Utility workers had to replace a transformer, Kirkley said. Power was restored by about 4:09 a.m.
The outage was kept at a minimum, Kirkley said, because workers have been on top of their tree-trimming efforts.
