The Lodi FFA recently held its 89th annual chapter awards banquet at Hutchins Street Square. The Lodi FFA Ag Boosters awarded more than $5,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.

Farmers and Merchants Bank also awarded more than $1,050 to club members for their Supervised Agriculture Experience projects.

Along with the scholarships, many awards were given, including those bestowed to the top students in each class. The top Lodi FFA chapter freshman was Samantha Anne Correia, while the top sophomore was Vanessa Berthold. The top junior was Courtney Miller and top senior was Michael Correia.

There were also five awards given to the organization's most active first year members also known as "Star Greenhands." They included Brady Colburn, Elainee Stokes, Kayla Harris, Courtney Newport, Sydney Humphrey and Samantha Correia.

At the May 20 banquet, six FFA officers retired, and eight new took their place. The 2011-2012 Lodi No. 1 FFA Chapter Officer team are: President Courtney Miller, Vice President Ashley Cropper, Secretary Sydney Humphrey, Treasurer Jake Boynton, Reporter Samantha Correia, Sentinel Brady Colburn, Historian Elainee Stokes and Parlimentian Clayton Lauchland.

In October, Lodi No. 1 FFA Chapter will have five members attending the National FFA Convention. Miller will be attending for the national proficiencies competition, while Danielle Rodriguez, Stokes, Colburn and Kara Adams will attend for the National Agriscience Competition.
