Caitlyn Sprinkle, the 7-year-old Lodi girl who made it home in August after six months in the hospital battling leukemia, has a group of strong firefighters willing to stomp out cancer in her name.
Eight San Joaquin County fire districts have signed on to compete for a trophy and bragging rights at the first Stomp Out Cancer grape stomp at Watt’s Winery.
Firefighters and emergency dispatchers will compete head to head to see how much juice they can stomp out in 15 minutes.
Tri-trip sandwiches will be on sale for lunch. Watt’s Winery will raffle off a case of their Butterfly label wine with the proceeds going to pediatric cancer research. A portion of the proceeds from the day will go to help Sprinkle’s family.
The event begins at noon on Sept. 8. Tickets are $10 each or $15 for two. They can be purchased the day of the event.
