After placing first in the California State Science Fair, Julie Fukunaga has been honored nationally as two of 300 Middle School Semifinalists in the National Broadcom MASTERS — Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering Competition.
Fukunaga, a seventh-grader at Elkhorn School, wowed the judges with her passion for science and engineering at the California State Science Fair in May, taking home one of the first-place medals. She has also excelled at local and state spelling bees in recent years.
