The Lodi City Council is pondering banning qualified patients and caregivers from growing medical marijuana outdoors, but still allowing indoor cultivation as long as it is not a public nuisance.
The council discussed the issue at a study session meeting on Tuesday, after the city received multiple complaints from residents who could smell plants, or see barbed wire protecting gardens or people living in tents in back yards to protect plants, deputy city attorney Janice Magdich said.

I don't think any medical marijuana should be grown in neighborhoods. Why should the whole neighborhood suffer for the selfishness of one. There are dangerous risks involved with growing marijuana, it's just not right to inflict those dangers to unsuspecting families.

I just love it when these pro-druggies try to make it look like we have to accommodate drug habits. If it is medical, it should come from the pharmacy, not a head shop oh excuse me medical marijuana vendor. NO! there is NO constitutional right to accommodate here.

I can't believe that the City Council would even consider the growing of marijuana within the city limits of Lodi regardless of what the California laws state. This is only inviting more CRIME to our small community. Consider the recent shake-down in Sacramento of over 60 supposedly legal marijuana clinics (shops), vendors, whatever you want to call them, that in fact were illegal and forced to close. Now, we have a Methadone Treatment clinic opening near a school. Is Lodi going to be the center for all drug dealers and users? I'm sure that if patients need their medical marijuana that bad, then they can go to the nearest city outside of Lodi, that will legally provide it for them. Just like cancer patients travel to cancer treatment facilites sometimes daily to get their 5 days of chemotherapy treatment. During an election year, I would strongly encourage Mr. Johnson, and Ms. Mounce not to endorse or even consider the growing of marijuana in our community. Think about the overall consequences to our community.

I sure hope they make it illegal to grow plants outside. I'm tired of people coming in my yard to steal plants from my neighbor! And the smell is just awful we can't even go in our backyard this time of year...Harvest time.
