Despite being in the midst of a housing crisis and credit crunch, newly appointed Lodi Association of Realtors president Kerry Suess expects to help push the community through the dark times. Suess spoke to the audience about honesty, diligence and perseverance during the 90th annual Lodi Association of Realtors banquets Wednesday afternoon in Stockton.

"I recently saw a study that said Realtors rank lower than used car salesmen in terms of public perception," Suess said. "We need to spread the word that Realtors are good, honest and hard-working."

During his brief address, Suess talked about his upbringing and the influence fellow Realtors had on him. Although Realtors can make large commissions, Suess said it is more important for them to focus on the customer than the bottom line.

"I was taught to treat every customer like I would want someone to treat my mother," he said.

Linda Bush was also honored as Realtor of the Year and Rose Lazzaro was inducted into the Lodi Association of Realtors Hall of Fame at the luncheon. Bush works for Katzakian, Williams & Associates and also serves as the Lodi Association of Realtor's secretary-treasurer. Lazzaro worked for ReMax and has served Leadership Lodi, Tree Lodi and the Lodi Senior Citizens' Commission.
