Just how hot was it in the Lodi area on Saturday? The temperature reached a scorching 108 degrees at Stockton Metropolitan Airport, according to Alan Reppert, a meteorologist with AccuWeather.com, a private forecasting service. However, local residents woke up to a much more refreshing morning Sunday.
Lodi and rural fire departments throughout the area reported no unusual activity or a high level of medical emergencies during the 108-degree heat Saturday.
The high pressure that made most of California seem like an oven on Saturday disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared. It may seem unbelievable, but it was only 75 degrees at 6 p.m. Sunday in Lodi.
“We had a weak upper-level storm in Southern California today,” Reppert said.
The storm didn’t produce rain, but it opened the door to onshore wind that went up to Northern California, Reppert said.
Reppert forecasts a high of about 80 degrees Monday before warming to the upper 80s to 90 degrees the rest of the week. But you should be able to sleep soundly because it will get down to the 50s at night.
