With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, the Salvation Army’s Lodi Corps is looking for donations to pack the holiday food boxes that it distributes to needy families.
The Lodi Corps gives out roughly 1,000 boxes of food each year so that families in need can have a traditional turkey or ham dinner with the trimmings for the holidays.
Capt. Martin Ross, who heads the Lodi Corps, said the Christian charitable organization is especially in need of frozen turkeys and frozen hams, in addition to stuffing mix, potatoes, onions and canned goods like cranberry sauce.
Food donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army’s office, located at 525 W. Lockeford St., between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Salvation Army is also accepting cash donations to buy food for the holiday gift boxes. Cash donations can be dropped off at the main office on Lockeford Street, or mailed to the Salvation Army Lodi Corps, P.O. Box 1388, Lodi, CA 95241.
