Papier-mâché golden nuggets are scattered throughout Downtown as part of a puzzle residents can solve before the Downtown Lodi Farmers Market on Thursday.

The Downtown Lodi Business Partnership is placing nuggets around town every day between now and Thursday morning, and each contains a letter, number or symbol. There are 23 nuggets total.

People will be able walk around, write down every letter and then unscramble them to spell out a message, DLBP Executive Director Jaime Watts said. Then they can download a form from the Downtown Lodi Business Partnership at www.downtownlodi.com or pick one up at the farmers market and fill in the answers.

Forms need to be returned to the News-Sentinel booth on Church Street between 5 and 7 p.m. Thursday for a chance to win a prize.

The promotion is for an organization in the community that is kicking off a celebration, but Watts cannot give any more information because it would give away the surprise.

“They wanted to make it interactive for the community,” she said.

At 7 p.m., there will be a special farmers market event in Post Office Plaza at the corner of Oak and School streets. The secret organization and the secret message will be revealed, Watts said, and there will be a celebration.
