Police have released a surveillance video of the armed robbery of a Lodi gas station Sunday night.
Armed men forced an employee to crawl back into the store he had just closed, then hit him with a gun and stole his car after ransacking the shop Sunday night, police said.
The 22-year-old victim was not injured, despite being hit in the head with the butt of a gun and having his hands and mouth duct-taped. He managed to remove the tape and call police at 11:22 p.m., about five minutes after the suspects left, police said.
The victim was locking the front entrance of Econo Gas, 880 E. Victor Road, when a gray Honda Civic pulled up, Lt. Tod Patterson said after reviewing an officer's report on the incident.
The video depicts several male suspects leaping out of the car, with the victim fumbling for some time to reopen the locked door. In the video, the robbers repeatedly demand money, ordering the victim to crawl to the office.
The victim's car was later found in Modesto, and police were still analyzing it for possible fingerprints and evidence, Detective Eric Bradley aid.
Police asked anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Carlos Fuentes at (209) 333-6872. Anonymous callers may reach Lodi-Area Crime Stoppers at (209) 333-6771.
