The company Saint-Gobain, a France-based leader in the habitat and construction markets, has recently sold their PVC pipe and foundations business to North American Pipe Corporation, a subsidiary of Westlake Chemical for $175 million.
The PVC pipe and foundations business was marketed under the CertainTeed brand, which has two production plants with about 200 employees in the Unites States, one in McPherson, Kan. and the other in east Lodi.
CertainTeed is a maker of PVC pipes and fittings used in various agricultural and industrial applications.
The company intends to continue “business as usual” at the Lodi plant, according to a Westlake spokesman quoted in a Stockton Record article about the sale.
The sale proceeds will be used to pursue the group’s acquisition strategy, focused on smallto medium-sized acquisitions, according to a statement released on March 7.
