The trial for a former Lodi Boys and Girls Club employee accused of lewd acts on a child won’t begin for several more weeks.

The trial date of Sept. 23 for Michael Allan Porter, 21, was vacated Wednesday morning, said Robert Martinelli, deputy district attorney for San Joaquin County. Porter will still appear in court Sept. 23, but it will now be to receive a new trial date, he said.

Although the trial’s start is being delayed, Martinelli said the other factors surrounding it remain the same.

“Everything is still pending; the charges and bail against him remain the same,” Martinelli said.

Porter was arrested in March for allegedly touching a student at Millswood Middle School during an afterschool Bridge program. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on May 11.

He is being held on a $525,000 bond in San Joaquin County Jail.
