Animal control officer Jennifer Bender told the Lodi Animal Advisory Commission on Monday night that there is not enough funding in the city’s budget to form or join a disaster animal response team.
A disaster animal response team, or DART, is made up of volunteers trained to save animals from disasters or cruelty. Volunteers typically provide food, shelter and veterinary services to animals displaced by natural disasters, or pets that were abused by humans.
