After the Lodi City Council unanimously approved an ordinance allowing fireworks around the Fourth of July, Mayor Bob Johnson joked “go forth and blow things up.”

Lodi will allow nonprofits to sell state-approved fireworks from noon to 9 p.m. on June 28 and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from June 29 to July 4. Residents will also be able to set off fireworks during those same time periods and also from 9 to 11 p.m. on June 29 to July 4.

Gee, I wonder which of their favorite non-profits will be that Hansen, Johnson and Katzakian will choose?

Obviously Phil & Larry will be getting dontation from both TNT & Revell. Eight stands? Please, six is ample. And the arguement about driving to Galt or Stockton? 15 minutes up & back = 30 minutes. Gas = $4. I dont think too many people are going to do that, especially if they want to support the local clubs.

What amazes me is that there was little word from the Lodi Fire Dept, or it's uber-political Union. Surely they had an opinion.

All those years non-profits couldn't raise money from firework stands. Now it's in the past. And the question is: WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG???
