At Tuesday's Galt City Council meeting, two council members received the support — and votes — of their peers to use their discretionary funds for pet projects.
Vice Mayor Marylou Powers requested $200 be forwarded to the city's Commission on Aging for various expenses such as printing flyers.
Councilman Mike Singleton wanted to use $230 of his discretionary funds to feed lunch to business representatives at a luncheon next week.
Each year, council members receive a stipend of city funds to be used at their discretion. However, the amount and purpose must be approved publicly by a majority council vote.
