Here are a couple of questions that apparently weren't considered:Q: How does illegal immigration impact costs with regard to California's Education System?Q: How does illegal immigration impact costs with regard to California's Healthcare System?Q: Would you support legislation to make it POSSIBLE for State Managers to fire State Employees who do not live up to a reasonable standard of performance?

she is a real estate lawyer dealing with construction defect cases, breach of contract, warranty litigation, etc. She is a personal injury lawyer for houses and homebuyers. I would call her an ambulance chaser but it doesn't quite fit. She will be perfect with the largest donor group in the state, personal injury trial lawyers. Another liberal democrat screwing up the state....

I'm so happy that Alyson will be representing our district!t_jefferson - she is a corporate lawyer that works on litigation between companies...she's not an injury lawyer.Even if you have concerns about her being a first-timer, she's much better than Sieglock and will play less (if at all) to special interests than he would have.

Alyson will speak up for herself and will do what is best for the district, that is her style. She is not affraid to get slapped on the wrist if it means doing the right thing.

If I had lost an election by that few votes, I'd be making a heckuva lot bigger stink about it than Seiglock has. He either knows something I don't, or is a much classier guy that I am. (Or both.)If I still lived in Lodi, I'd be willing to give Huber the benefit of the doubt for the time being. The only thing she's said here that I really disagree with is her assertion that, if forced to choose, she'd rather fund educational programs (many of which are of only marginal value) than keep convicts off the street. And that isn't necessarily a deal-killer.

Not having a state representative from San Joaquin county is and will continue to be an issue. I find it interesting that a majority of Amador, San Joaquin and ElDorado county voters selected her opponent. Between "Freshman" Huber and "Mrs. Doubtfire" Wolk our fate is likely in the hands of the unions who spent millions to control our lives.

After being busy running for assembly I am sure that Alyson's family needed to spend time with her. She obviously has her priorities in order. I appreciate a person dedicated to family as our next assemblywoman. And as far as age, my grandparents love Disneyland just as much as the youngest child in the family. Disneyland is for all ages.

She called her opponent the night of the election and congratulated him on his victory. Then the union thugs probably called her and said "don't worry, we have it on good authority that you will be successful. After all we helped mark thousands of sample ballots".

And no one is "condemning" Huber, Leonard; some of us are rightfully questioning her abilities to do the job for which she was elected. You're the one bringing up Jack Sieglock. He lost; we know that and we accept it. It really isn't a point of contention. But if you (and others) seriously expect any of us to not be critical of Huber as she begins her representation of us then it would appear that you have missed a day or two in Civics 101. For eight years I've witnessed the moaning and groaning over the idea that George W. Bush stole the presidency from Al Gore. It was relentless; yet here you are using Sieglock's loss as something that it certainly is not.No one is accusing Huber of stealing anything. Sure, there are questions in the way that provisional ballots are handled in this State- that's really nothing new. But Sieglock didn't demand a recount and neither did his supporters. When ballots were certified, the campaign was over. I would suggest that you need to accept that.

Sorry, Leonard. You really need to read and understand. I never stated that I didn't know what Sieglock did for a living; you assumed by my not disclosing it in another blog that I didn't know. My comments regarding the man then (and now) are strictly related to his careeer as a politician; not his chosen vocation.I've made it clear what I learned about Huber during the race. For me to sit through a Q&A session as I did reveals that at least I'm involved beyond the confines of this blog (or Texas). As such, when I make remarks about Alyson Huber they are certainly not coming from any political affiliation- I listened patiently, offered no disrespect or contempt for her or her poor performance and determined for myself just how qualified she is (isn't).I challenge anyone to state that this most recent interview revealed anything more about this person that would give us any semblance of confidence that she has an inkling of what she is doing. My remarks have been nothing less than respectful and dignified. You Leonard, have come to represent (to me) someone who has no tolerance for intelligent discussion.

To t jefferson who states that he doesn't expect much from Huber because she is a first-termer. I disagree. At this time in California, we there really isn't much room for grossly ignorant or immature "leaders." I do hope that she hits the ground running, as she states she will do during this interview, but if her aforementioned performance in a Q&A session and this one is any indication of her basic capabilities, I am afraid that we may be very under-represented in the State House. While education should always be "a" priority (simply because the success or failure of California rests upon future leaders), right now it cannot possibly be "the" priority. Or at least while addressing her passions for education she must not lose sight of the perilous condition in which we now find ourselves (something that I would have thought she would have touched on in her interview with the News-Sentinel; sadly there were few questions of substance). This is a very delicate balancing act. Again, is Huber up to the task? Because of her own words I am extremely doubtful. I do hope I will be proven wrong.

The guy did his time, rolling in the mud for the GOP machine and he expected to get paid when it came to election time. Now those darn voters have gone and ruined all of his plans. You feel outraged, I understand.

If Huber didn't know the unions were going to spend (spent)2 million dollars on this assembly seat for her benefit she must be smoking some of Bonser's hemp. The voters of this district, by suspect provisional ballots counted quickly before the holiday end up with a self described younger version of Diane Fienstein.

Fine Whoa Nellie- she took a vacation. But to state that that was the "high point" of her campaign leads me to question why she was running at all. I would have thought that learning that she had won would have been more significant that looking at Lego New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, [and] New Orleans. It is precisely these types of comments that have me wondering how she will survive in Sacramento. Is she really that immature? With the State at the brink of financial ruin, we need serious people in the State House- not children posing as adults. As for anyone (again) insisting that I "lighten up," I take a lackadaisical attitude to those things that I believe are not worthy of serious discussion. When I read a Q&A session such as this from someone who represents ME in any part of government, I place a tad more significance on the answers. Huber has a lot of learning ahead of her; but as many others dismissed Sarah Palin as being woefully unprepared to be our Vice President, it is my impression that Alyson Huber isn't fit to be our dog catcher.

No I didn't, Leonard. My doubts were confirmed when I sat in on a little get-together with Huber in Lodi when she admitted that she had no idea where her opponent (Sieglock) stood on the issues facing this district. She didn't just allude to this fact; she openly "confessed" that she simply did not know. Immediately after that question was fielded, she attempted to end the Q&A portion of the meeting. Lucky for her she was amongst friends - no one there even attempted to hold her to such a pathetic response - and this was with less than two weeks left in the contest.Getting back to this article. Her one "low point" was when Sieglock claimed victory in their first debate? What did she really expect, that because she thought she had won that he would have admitted defeat? Sure, she admits that at that point she realized she was in a political race; something that I would have thought she would have understood prior to submitting her papers expressing her desire to run. After all, she is a lawyer - none of this should have been completely new to her.

Here's what will happen. Ms. Huber will report to work as a Freshman. The powers that be at the head of the party will set up a meeting with her. She will be informed of the rules within the party. Those rules will be: You will vote how we tell you to vote, and do what we tell you to do. If you decide to become a renegade, you can forget any support from us for your reelection. If you want to keep riding this gravy train, you have to be a team player.

L - you are a complete pushover. Do you really believe anything a politician says? Come on you can't really be that naive. She will do nothing to upset the unions. She new about what was going on and will be looking for donations in the next election. I know Liberals spend most of thier lives with thier head in the sand but at some point they have to pull it out to breath and get a dose of reality....

Safeway, lighten up pal. She obviously took a family vacation to SoCal to blow off the stress of a campaign. Was she supposed to sit around and watch votes being counted for two weeks? Her talking about the unions money with her being the lesser of evils. Hmmm, that's exactly what I thought when I filled in the bubble for her.

Alyson - maybe a good start would be to answer mail from your constituants. Not expecting much here. She is a 1 termer. Redistricting will take care of the issue and she will not be re-elected. Other than that, she is a union hack, injury lawyer - typical democrat. She will vote the party line, no changes.....

What Huber actually said about the state unions (and what the poster of many names conveniently ignored) is the following:Q: OK, but are you prepared to step up and take a hard look at state staffing and compensation?A: Yes, we have to. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a pushover. In terms of the independent expenditures, I'd say this: I may not have been the best choice for organized labor; I just may have been a better choice than my opponent

The high point of her campaign was going to Disneyland and Legoland? Just how old is Ms. Huber? Did anyone check her birth certificate to ensure that she is as old as she appears? In a time of economic disaster for California, I had hoped that we had elected serious representatives to perform serious work. Apparently this is not the case with Alyson Huber. And her response to receiving contributions from labor unions? "I didn't know about it, I didn't approve it." Ms. Huber, you should learn early on that the buck is supposed to stop with you - using ignorance (imaginary or authentic) won't be acceptable as you're held to account for the goings on in your office.Yes, we certainly do have a "novice" representing us in Sacramento. I wonder just how those feet are going to hold up as she hits the ground running. I have my doubts.
