Do you want to make some money for your nonprofit organization? You may have the opportunity by selling water and soda at the Downtown Lodi Farmers Market this year.

The Farmers Market will operate on School Street each Thursday from June 6 through Aug. 29. Profits from the booth will be split between the Lodi Chamber of Commerce, which is operating the Farmers Market this year, and the nonprofit group.

The chamber requires that at least eight volunteers staff the booth from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. If it’s a youth organization, young people are encouraged to participate, but there must be at least two adults present at all times.

Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call Leslie Dietz at 209-367-7840, extension 102 or send an email to ldietz@lodichamber.com.

Thank you for the clarification,Ross. Now it makes sense. It was easy to misinterpret your article as written. Sorry.

Non profit organizations need to raise funds. How many times have you been asked to participate in a United Way Campaign? Seen ads for Red Cross after a hurricane. Generating funds does not make an organization for profit. Just ask the Girl Scouts. Got your cookies?

Robert Maurer: The Lodi Chamber of Commerce is a business. However, the chamber is looking for nonprofit organizations to staff the water booth.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
