The number of homicides in Stockton has decreased over the past three months since the Stockton Police Department and California Highway Patrol have teamed up in an effort to combat violent crime in Stockton, according to CHP Officer James Smith.

Stockton’s murders have decreased from 11 in October to six in November, four in December and zero so far in January, Smith said.

The Stockton Police-CHP joint task force has stopped 2,184 vehicles since October, confiscated 68 guns, made 122 felony arrests and 106 misdemeanor arrests, and conducted 355 parole searches.
