A stalwart group of area residents continue to support worthy efforts here, from hospice to arts programs and efforts dealing with at-risk youth and arts programs.
The Lodi Community Foundation has provided more than $600,000 since 2005 to area nonprofits, said John Ledbetter, chairman of the foundation.
He said the foundation was created to provide sustainable support to an array of groups. It has set up several endowments to provide a stable flow of money for worthy efforts. Other funds may be drawn down over time.
Among the nonprofits supported thus far: The All-Veterans Plaza Fund, the Lodi Library Foundation Endowment; and Hospice of San Joaquin; the Children’s Endowment Share Homes; and the Lodi Community Concert Association.
Earlier this month, the foundation held a philanthropy summit at Hutchins Street Square providing legal, financial and ethical information for supporting nonprofits.
