Lodi Unified School District seeks to save money by reducing after-school program staff

This year, the Lodi Unified School District and the city of Lodi found themselves at odds in deciding how much the Bridge Program — the afterschool program provided by the city and paid for by the school district — should cost.

“There were going to be higher expenses with the minimum wage increase. (The school district was) looking to cover those costs since the district’s grant doesn’t increase with the wages,” said Jeff Hood, director of Parks and Recreation and Cultural Services.
