The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently awarded the city of Lodi the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the 20th consecutive year the city has been awarded this certificate.
Mayor Phil Katzakian will present the award to Ruby Paiste, the city’s financial services manager, and Wendy Corder-Dowhower, a supervising accountant, during Wednesday’s council meeting.
Paiste and Corder-Dowhower will each receive a Certificate of Recognition as well.
According to city staffers, these certificates are given to individuals considered primarily responsible when the city receives an award.
Staff said the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting reflects the commitment of a governing body and its staff to meeting the highest principles of financial reporting.
The award program was started to encourage all government bodies to publish an easily understandable annual financial report covering all funds and transactions during a fiscal year.
