Lodi's police chief grimly reported Tuesday that gang crimes are up, including those that involve a weapon and those that claim a life.

Chief Mark Helms said his department is developing an aggressive, multi-level attack on gangs, however, and later Tuesday came some good news: The city has received a $250,000 grant to help fuel its campaign against gangs.

Start charging the gang members as adults even if they are under 18yrs of age. This isnt just happening in Lodi I live in Woodbridge and on the 15th of this month at 1035pm gang members shot a 22 caliber weapon 8 times at two juveniles who were in the park (after hours) just 20 feet away from my front door.

I remember when I was growing up in Lodi; we didn't even have a key to our house and if we needed a key we could go down to the five and dime and buy one that probably opened most doors in town. How things have changed!
