"All-aboard!" was a cry that hadn't been heard in Lodi for a long time until Amtrak made its first stop in the city in March 2002.
Electric cars from the Central California Traction Company's Lodi Avenue line ran from 1907 to 1933. Southern Pacific's last passenger train chugged out of town on April 30, 1971. Soon after, the Sacramento Street depot was abandoned and passenger rail travel in Lodi shriveled up.
