Cindy Piasecki was about two hours away from sitting down with her family to a Thanksgiving meal Thursday when she smelled smoke.

In no time at all, orange flames were tearing through her Lodi garage, consuming her car and sending smoke billowing into the air.

educator: by any chance was that a teacher who taught driver's ed? I saw him just a day prior, perfectly healthy. He choked on a piece of food, at the Thanksgiving Day feast.

T & C: Gas tanks are not explosive. This is because gasoline combustion occurs in the air where it is mixed with oxygen. Liquid gas doesn't burn until it vaporizes. If there were oil puddles, they don't burn until they get hot.

Why would her car, parked for an hour on concrete, cause a fire?

Perhaps I am just a very calm guy under stress, But I would have saved the car, rather then leave it parked there loaded with gasoline!

I sure hope that they can prove that it was the car's fault. That might reduce or eliminate any deductible they might have to pay. Good to hear that nobody was hurt, and the contents of the house are largely intact. Now they can be quoted in the paper for the worst Thanksgiving day ever. But unfortunately I got em beat on that. I had a family member drop dead at the table.
