Especially during this warm winter weather, local bird life is active and humming. The seventh annual Galt Winter Bird Festival celebrates these feathered creatures today.
The City of Galt, in collaboration with the Cosumnes River Preserve and the Galt Joint Union elementary and high school districts, sponsors the one-day event. Photography tours of the area wetlands and the preserve run from dawn to sunset.
At McCaffrey Middle School, enjoy wild animal presentations, vendors and keynote speaker Noah Stryker, the associate editor of Birding Magazine and author of “The Thing With Feathers.”
Tours begin at 6 a.m., and the festival opens at 8 a.m. at 997 Park Terrace Drive, Galt. For more information, call 209-366-7115.
