The Lodi City Council is slated to hold a public hearing to receive written or oral protests on the sale of the former Fire Station 2 located at 705 E. Lodi Avenue before voting whether to approve the deal during its meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Carnegie Forum.

According to Lodi Business Development Manager Adam Brucker, the station was replaced with a new fire station on Cherokee Lane which opened at the beginning of 2015. The plan was always for the former station to be sold off once it was no longer needed in order to generate the revenue to offset some of the costs of replacing it. The building isn’t being utilized to its full potential and is only being used for storage, Brucker said. There have also been issues with some transients breaking into the station, Brucker said.
