Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, announced that President Barack Obama included funding for the Lower San Joaquin Feasibility River Study in his budget proposal for the 2013-14 fiscal year.
"In San Joaquin County alone, 450,000 Californians rely on flood protection," McNerney wrote in a December letter to Assistant Secretary Jo-Ellen Darcy of the Army for Civil Works and Acting Director Jeffery Zients. "Fully funding this study will ensure that residents can continue to be protected from floods and that the water supply in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta remains intact."
