Women? all of the proofreaders and editors there are men. cut them some slack. i'm sure you make mistakes, too, but yours aren't in black and white in front of thousands every day.

Great story! Kudos to Fred for his longevity and vitality. The only thing I can take issue with is the "scrutinizing each story with a copy editor's eye." If this was true, there wouldn't be nearly the number of grammatical, spelling, and usage errors contained in every issue of this publication. I won't name the culprits, but I regret to say they are all women (with the exception, of course, of Gwin Paden!). Shape up, LNS!
