Paintings, photography, sculpture and other works of art shared space with wine barrels during the Lodi Community Art Center's 46th Lodi Art Annual.

Visitors to Woodbridge Winery sampled wine and hors d'oeuvres while admiring a wide variety of artwork, which was displayed on the wine barrels.

"This is such a good idea," said Phil Kavanaugh, who came to the art show from Los Gatos. "What they've done here is a very clever idea."

Kavanaugh had a reason for driving two hours to the art show. He wanted to see how a painting by his girlfriend, Maggie McGurk of Lincoln, looked while it was on display at the winery.

Lodi resident Gay Lynn, attending the show with Terry Wagers, also from Lodi, came to see what local artists can produce.

"I'm pretty impressed," Lynn said. "It's good to see there's more art in the area. We don't have to go all the way to San Francisco to experience culture."

The art show is the Lodi Community Art Center's premiere fund-raising activity each year. It is open to all artists in the western United States.

The art center, a nonprofit organization, holds monthly gallery shows and sponsors the Friday Night Art Hop in Lodi on the first Friday of each month.
