“Monopoly?” Actually it’s called a representative republic. “We the People” of Lodi choose our city council members by election for four-year terms. The mayor is is chosen by our elected city council members.

So it’s not even a “good ol” (sic) boy stuffed shirt society” (whatever that might mean) as suggested by another contributor to this forum. As exists at every level of our government, if more people would actually get out there and vote, perhaps the changes they so desperately want or need might happen. If there’s such unhappiness with whomever represents us, it would behoove everyone to exercise their responsibility on Election Day. Uneducated whining rarely does any good.

Join the ranks of the history of Mr. Maple in Galt and the current mayor of Stockton and run for Council the next time around . Mavericks do exist and they do bring ideas. You just might ask yourself though where the most effective position is - where you are now or becoming mayor ?

That's what's known as he good ol" boy stuffed shirt society in livable, livable Lodi. Why do you think this terrible little town is so screwed up? With the east side of Lodi separated by its own Berlin Wall, and the gangs dominating that area, the wealthy are left to control the west side and those who try to be accepted into the good ol" boys society that to this day dominates and runs the embarrassing city of Lodi. Thank you for your comment, Mr. Straight. You are so right on.

I have to present the question as to why the same people in this city are on the city council, then become mayors then back to the city council? or vice versa. The tax paying citizens of Lodi need to wake up and smell the coffee! I think they call this sort of thing a monopoly![blink]
