Local firefighters are helping fight a Los Angeles blaze that has grown to more than 13,000 acres and was not contained as of Tuesday evening.
A Woodbridge fire crew helped save 96 apartments in a 100-unit complex on Monday. Other northern San Joaquin County firefighters were helping from Lodi, Clements, Liberty, Linden-Peters, Mokelumne and Waterloo-Morada.
The firefighters were among 1,217 crew members battling the fire that had destroyed 19 homes and threatened 3,500 more, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
As of mid-morning Tuesday, local crews were working 24-hour shifts and there were no reports of injuries, according to Woodbridge Fire Chief Mike Kirkle.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and containment was hampered by winds.
