Anyone interested in serving in either the 8th or 13th Assembly districts or the 5th State Senate District has until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file for the June primary election.

The filing period expired last Friday for all other local state and federal districts in the Lodi-Galt area, but incumbents didn’t file in the 8th and 13th Assembly districts or the 5th State Senate District. That extends the filing period by five calendar days.

The 5th State Senate District includes San Joaquin County, plus Galt. The 8th Assembly District includes Herald, Elk Grove and eastern Sacramento County, while the 13th Assembly District includes rural Lodi west of Davis Road, plus Flag City, Tower Park Marina, Thornton and Morada.

Candidates who have filed are subject to verification by the California Secretary of State’s Office. Candidates for the June primary will be certified on March 29, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.
