How about a rural fire or water district board?
Monday was the first day of filing for local offices to be decided in the November election. Anyone considering a run has until 5 p.m. Aug. 6 to file with the Registrar of Voters in San Joaquin County or Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections.
In seats in which the incumbent is not running, the filing period will be extended for five calendar days.
These offices are in addition to San Joaquin County, state and federal races that will be on the November ballot.
Here are the local seats that are up for election in 2010:
Lodi City Council: Mayor Phil Katzakian, Council members Larry Hansen and Susan Hitchcock. Hitchcock has announced that she will not seek another term.
Galt City Council: Councilmen Darryl Clare, Andrew Meredith and Donald Haines. Clare and Meredith have announced their resignation from the council and will not run in November.
Lodi Unified School District: Bonnie Cassel, Area 1; Richard Jones, Area 3; Calvin Young, Area 4; Jeff Thompson, Area 5; Area 6 is vacant. Area 6 is a two-year term.
Galt Joint Union High School District: Art Oelsner, Dennis Richardson, Terry Parker-Owning.
Galt Joint Union Elementary School District: Donna Settles, Bob Ellis, Tina Skinner.
Oak View Union School District: Mark Huft, Carol Pehl, Jeanne Pearson.
New Hope School District: Leonard Clark, Jane Springmeyer.
Arcohe School District: Laura Mulrooney, Robert Martin, Brendan Moore.
San Joaquin Delta Community College District: Taj Khan, Area 4.
Woodbridge Municipal Advisory Council: Lita Wallach, Raymond Cuenca, Steve Newman.
Lockeford Municipal Advisory Council: Larry Wenell, Scott Baker, David McAnelly.
Morada Municipal Advisory Council: Bill Fields, Jerry Hermann, Ken Meleyco, Pat Gotelli.
Thornton Municipal Advisory Council: Robert Jones, Marlene Corbitt, Frank Yoka, one seat vacant.
