Local fireworks booths ready for July 4

Independence Day is just around the corner, and several nonprofit groups in Lodi are ready to help you celebrate.

For the second year in a row, “safe and sane” fireworks are permitted for sale in Lodi and use on private property. Six local groups earned the right to set up booths and sell some sparklers, TNT Pop-Its and a wide variety of legal explosives.

I'm still in disbelief the powers to be are allowing fireworks booths in Lodi. They finally figured out the money that goes to charities far outwieighs the ISOLATED incidents of irresponsibilities with fireworks. All those years one had to treck north to Sac County or south to Staislaus county to get fireworks is over. One could conclude the powers to be were only encouraging this by not allowing safe and sane fireworks in Lodi.
