John Durand, the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District youth development coordinator, has secured more than $50,000 in funding to support service learning and outdoor education opportunities for district students this school year.

Activities are held at the McFarland Living History Ranch and Cosumnes River Nature Preserve, while the 21st Century Learning program takes place at school and beyond.
