A Tuesday evening brawl involving numerous Galt residents resulted in three arrests and two people being taken to the hospital.

At approximately 6:25 p.m., Galt police responded to the 200 block of Oak Avenue on a report of a physical fight in progress at a home, according to a press release from the Galt Police Department.

Once at the house, officers found two injured people and detained several others who were possibly involved in the fight, the release stated.

The street where the fight occurred was blocked off while police questioned suspects and paramedics transported those who were injured to a local hospital.

After further investigation, the release stated, police determined that the two injured people were shot several times with a pellet gun after they allegedly arrived at a home wielding a small machete and attempting to fight one of the residents.

Galt residents Luis Meza, 22, Jesus Calderon, 20, and Gabriel Lopez, 35, were arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and for participation in a criminal street gang.

This is the second time this week that Galt police have made major arrests.

On Sunday, Galt police along with members of the joint Elk Grove/Galt SWAT team, arrested Tina Barron, 26. Barron was wanted for outstanding warrants in connection with violent crimes against two individuals in Sacramento.

Participation in a criminal street gang should upgrade the sentence to death penalty.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
