Canon Camera will once again be present at the Galt Winter Bird Festival with its 500mm to 800mm lenses on certain tours, the city announced Tuesday. Participants can enjoy free use of the extra-long lenses to take amazing pictures.

The festival offers people of all ages a chance to spend time discovering, learning and educating themselves on the importance of these feathered creatures, as well as the wetlands, agriculture and open space that are crucial to their survival.

The festival is free and offers more than 30 educational and arts and crafts vendors, local food vendors, a Youth Art Gallery, free children's art and craft activities and more. Bird tours include a morning and a sunset photo tour of the wetlands, a children's tour and various wildlife tours of the Cosumnes River Preserve. Tours require pre-registration, and costs vary. Space is limited.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 26, at McCaffrey Middle School, 997 Park Terrace Drive. It is a joint sponsorship among the city of Galt, the Cosumnes River Preserve and Galt Joint Union Elementary and High School districts.

For more information, call 209-366-7115 or visit the city's website at www.ci.galt.ca.us.
