A 39-year-old man who police said led officers on a high-speed chase through Lodi and along Highway 99 was arrested Wednesday morning.
Members of the Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force spotted John Terry in a vehicle that had been reported as stolen near Garfield Street, according to Lodi police.
Lodi police responded to the scene, but when officers tried to make contact, Terry drove away, police said. Officers pursued Terry for several minutes, reaching speeds of 50 miles per hour before Terry left city limits and drove north on Highway 99, police said.
Once on the highway, Terry reached speeds of 100 mph, according to Lodi police.
He exited on Peltier Road and within minutes stopped the vehicle and ran from officers on foot, according to Lodi police.
Terry was quickly arrested and booked in Lodi Police Department jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, receiving known stolen property worth more than $400 and other charges.
