With the help of three citizens, Galt police were able to quickly find and arrest an accused armed robber Wednesday night.

According to Galt Police Lt. Brian Vizzusi, a man wearing a bandana over his face and armed with a handgun approached three pedestrians around 11:15 p.m. along A Street near 2nd Street.

The man demanded the victims remove their belongings from their pockets, Vizzusi said.

Police said the gunman took cash and fled the scene on foot. The victims then called the police.

Officers spotted the suspect running from the scene and arrested him at gunpoint, Galt police said. Officers said they were also able to recover the suspect’s firearm and the victims’ property.

Zachary Rodriguez, 21, was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery and carrying a loaded firearm.
