Officer Dan Carter and his dog, Jax, are now certified and have begun work at the Galt Police Department.

They complete the two-officer K9 unit, which was non-existent for a couple of months after the death of Officer Kevin Tonn. His dog, Yaro, was retired and now lives with Tonn’s family.

Fellow K9 Officer Brian Nino left the Galt department to take a job in Monterey after his dog, Bo, suffered a career-ending injury. Bo now resides with Nino.

Galt’s other new K9 unit, Officer Nathan Meyerdick and his dog Hunter, started work earlier this month.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
