Lean Up, a free wellness program, will begin its fifth season on Sept. 16 for area residents seeking to get healthy and fit.

The program was designed by fitness professionals for people who have had a lifelong struggle to be fit and healthy. There will be 225 individuals selected for the eight-week fitness program.

Those individuals will participate in a small group boot camp three days a week, meet with a personal trainer once a week, attend a nutrition and motivational group meeting and enjoy other fitness activities at Fitness Works, Lodi’s participating club.

Selected participants will enjoy free, unlimited access to the club during the course of the program. Those age 13 and older are welcome to apply, although those under 18 must obtain parental consent. All selected individuals must received medical clearance from their health care provider.

Applications are available at www.leanup.net or at Fitness Works. The deadline to apply is Wednesday.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
