Lodi police on Thursday determined the death of a 3-year-old boy on Tree Court was accidental.
The boy was struck and killed Wednesday by an SUV driven by his father.
"From what we found, the child ran out into the street. Since the vehicle was an SUV, being three years old the child was too small to be seen," Officer Jim Pendergast said. The child was struck by the front end of the white Chevrolet Tahoe.
The boy was taken to Lodi Memorial Hospital at 11:30 a.m. with severe head trauma, where he died of his injuries.
The names of the boy and his father have not been released. Charges will not be filed against the driver, and officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.
