Two left standing in race for San Joaquin County superintendent of schools

Two candidates are still standing in the race to be San Joaquin County’s next superintendent of schools after Tuesday’s primary election.

James Mousalimas, who secured 30,668 votes (43.26 percent), and Jeff Tilton, with 23,765 votes (33.52 percent), will be heading into a run-off election this November. Mike Gillespie, in third place with 16,229 votes (22.89 percent), is no longer in the running. There were 232 write-in votes.
