A box truck crashed into several trees and two power poles on Liberty Road in the wee hours Friday morning. A cow was killed in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck was on Liberty Road between Sowles and Elliott roads shortly before 3 a.m. when he hit power poles and trees along with the cow, according to the CHP.
CHP spokesman James Smith said on Sunday that he didn’t have any further information.
“(The driver) had a small scratch to his elbow,” Liberty Fire Chief Stan Seifert said. “The cow didn’t do so well, but everything else was fine.”
Seifert said that drivers should always watch out for cows on rural roads east of Highway 99.
