Larry Aceves, running for the office of California Superintendant of Public Instruction, will sit down with San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools Mick Founts next week to discuss issues facing California's educators and public education system, as well as his campaign platform of enhancing teacher technical training, ensuring equal accountability for student success, and increasing equitable school funding. Aceves will also field questions from the audience.
The forum, titled "A Conversation with California Superintendent Candidate Larry Aceves," is the first of an ongoing series hosted by the Teachers College of San Joaquin. The forum will be open to the public and is an opportunity for the Central Valley community, as well as the greater Bay Area, to ask questions of the candidates.
State Senator Tom Torlakson, who is running against Aceves, will join the Teachers College forum next month.
The first forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Burwood Auditorium, Wentworth Education Center at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton.
