The San Joaquin Regional Transit District announced that it was partnering with Uber for a pilot program to better provide transportation service to those in the county outside of the normal service area during the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday morning.

According to Public Information Officer Terry Williams, those living outside the normal service area will now be able to use the RTD GO promotion on the Uber app to ride Uber for less. Customers can use the app on their smart phones and the promotion is automatically applied if they meet the criteria. Those in the county who are outside the service area will qualify immediately. Those living in the normal service area would only qualify if they were traveling to or from one of the eight approved transit stations.
