Today marks Good Friday, when Christians observe Jesus Christ's crucifixion. Churches throughout the Lodi-Galt area will have special Good Friday services, some at noon and others at night.
Both communities will have community services at noon — in Lodi at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Oak St., and in Galt at First Baptist Church, 653 A St.
Eighteen pastors will participate in the Lodi service. They are Mike Abdollazadeh, Lodi Avenue Baptist Church; Tom Akery, Lodi Community Church; Bill Cummins, Bear Creek Community Church; Jack Dawson, United Congregational Christian Church; Matt Duerr, Zion Reformed Church; Dale Edwards, Century Assembly; David Hill, Grace Presbyterian Church; Alan Kimber, First United Methodist Church; Parish Nurse Marilyn Maki, St. Paul Lutheran Church; Jeff McEachron, Gravity Church; Bill McVay, Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church; Patrice MucCular, New Covenant Tabernacle Church; Steve Newman, First Baptist Church; Kevin Suess, associate pastor, Vinewood Community Church; Chris Townsend, Emanuel Lutheran Church; the Rev. Brandon Ware, St. Anne's Catholic Church; and Lt. Dan Williams, Lodi Salvation Army.
Proceeds from the offering at Lodi's joint service will go to the Salvation Army's Hope Harbor Shelter.
In Galt, at least five pastors will participate at First Baptist. They are Tim Stevenson, Horizon Community Church; Mary Sanders, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church; Rick Keiser, Family Life Christian Church; Helen Mansfield, Galt United Methodist Church; and Larry Groves, First Baptist Church.

St. john's episcopal church, 1055 s. lower sacramento road, lodi: Prayer vigil until noon; Good Friday solemn liturgy with Devotions at the Cross conducted by San Joaquin Diocese Bishop Jerry Lamb at noon; Way of the Cross for children and those who love them at 6 p.m. (includes mini-pilgrimage beginning outside and ending in the chapel).

There will also be two special Easter performances this weekend.
The Home Church will present a dramatic musical, "Bow the Knee," today, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The performance, with more than 100 people involved, is a dramatic musical portraying an often-missed part of the Easter story, the inner struggles of a Roman soldier in the times of Jesus.
