The Galt High School Agriculture Academy and its staff have been recognized as the state’s Outstanding Agriculture Program.

Teachers Cheryl Reece, Dane White and Carl Wright received the award over the weekend at the California Agriculture Teachers’ Association conference, held in San Luis Obispo.

“The Outstanding Chapter award is indeed well-deserved,” Superintendent Matthew Roberts of Galt Joint Union High School District said in an email to district staff.

Among the areas the judges look at are examples of the department’s effective classroom and laboratory instruction, accomplishments in getting students involved in work-based learning such as supervised agricultural experience programs, cooperative education and internships, and partnerships with school and community leaders, industry leaders and others to support the agricultural education program.
